If ever given the opportunity, I would certainly recommend you take the adventure of this gorgeous hike near the Oregon Coast! At nearly 5.5 miles round trip, it is a quick but challenging climb with lots of switchbacks… let’s just say you will feel like you got your exercise. Enjoyably!
You start by climbing up through a mossy tree covered forest of alder that progresses into fir & spruce. Once out of the forest, you will find yourself traveling through steep rocky meadows (in full bloom with wildflowers May-June). After a short descent through the saddle area, you will make the final steep climb up to the summit. Ending with a 360 degree view that allows you to see the Pacific Ocean, Mt Rainier, Mt St Helens, Mt Hood, and Mt Jefferson all at the same time. It is breathtakingly beautiful! Truly.
And once you are off the Mountain, a trip into Cannon Beach is in order. Only a 20ish minute drive from Saddle Mountain, this super cutie coastal town is full of little shops & restaurants. A great place to grab a bite to eat and visit the beach. Don’t forget to check out Haystack Rock, where The Goonies was partially filmed.
Fun stuff! Enjoy!
